weather

Please Note!

Roads and walking trails of the Eastern Sayan seem to be relatively well developed compared to other parts of Russia, however, the stage of maintenance cannot be compared with European standards. In many areas you will hardly meet other people on your way - even in summer - and the trails are practically never signposted.
The area is therefore still relatively "wild" and untouched. Even in summer heavy snowing is not unusual. As in all mountainous landscapes lashing rainfalls can turn creeks into torrent rivers. There are almost no bridges and so even for cars the way back can become impassable (Oka Valley).
Therefore it is highly recommended to tell friends about the route you plan to go and when you expect to be back so that they can organise help in case of an emergency. Nevertheless you should always carry some extra food with you and a well-equipped first aid kit.
