Listvyanka
The village was first mentioned in 1773 as a post and ferry place and has been set up as a tourist place mainly by Intourist. Due to the well-constructed asphalt roads from Irkutsk via Bolschaja Retschka to Listvyanka, it is still a great destination for all those who have planned to stay at Lake Baikal only for a short time.
The village itself is situated at the source of the Angara river (1110 miles long), which is the only outlet of Lake Baikal and the only real highlight of the village. Listvyanka stretches about 3 miles along the Angara river and is, at present, marked by a real building boom. So-called "New-Russians" are building new summer residences, hotels and restaurants everywhere.
Als eines der ersten erfolgreichen Abschnitte des Great Baikal Trail Projektes bietet sich Listwijanka nunmehr auch als Ausgangspunkt für eine sehr schöne Wanderung entlang des Baikalsees an. Der erste Abschnitt führt über 18 Kilometer, anfangs durch typische Fichtenwälder bis in den kleinen idyllisch gelegenen Ort Bolschoi Kotui. Von hier aus kann man entweder mit dem Raketa zurück nach Listwijanka oder Irkutsk fahren oder man läuft entlang des Ufers weiter bis nach Bolschoi Goloustnoje. Für die gesamte Strecke sollte man ca. 3 Tage einplanen. Von Bol. Goloustnoje kann man mehrmals täglich mit dem Minibus zurück nach Irkutsk fahren oder noch weiter in Richtung Norden bis in die Bucht Peschanaja laufen.
