Where to stay - East coast

Place names such as Enkhaluk, Utulik, Goryatchinsk, or Turka usually don't mean anything to the majority of foreign visitors whereas for the inhabitants of Ulan-Ude this are melodic names which remind many of them to their holidays or to stays at a health resort at Lake Baikal.

Most of the places can easily be reached by marshrutka or commuter train in direction of Ust-Barguzin as they are located within a radius of about 200 km from Uland-Ude. Up to now only few foreign travellers have visited the city which is not quite prepared for foreign tourists yet. But this might be a great opportunity to be invited by curious Russians and to experience the Russian hospitality which is more authentic here than at the west-coast. Accommodation ranges from simple cabins to well-equipped holiday parks or hotels.
