The town may be unknown to many travellers. However, it lends itself to cyclists and hikers as starting point of very attractive tours along the Lake Baikal and the Tacheransk steppe until Olkhon. Additionally, a bus route connects the town to Irkutsk - admittedly, the road doesn't actually make the visitor assume that.
A big stable hotel which also lets rooms as well as small lodges is beeing established in Buguldeika for some time. The rooms are quite comfortable and provide shower and WC as well as a television set. As the stable hotel is well attended by Russians and therefore often booked up, especially in summer, it is also poosible to camp not far from the stable and use its infrastructure facilities. The meals are good and moderate-priced (minimum 40 roubles, beer 20 roubles).
The complex in Maloje Buguldeika consists of several huts located on the Baikal lakeside for all in all 40 visitors. The rooms are suitable for 2 up to 5 persons. Toilets and showers are shared.
