The second hostel in Irkutsk was opened in summer 2004. It was founded by two young computer specialists, who got the idea of opening a hostel in Irkutsk during their journeys through China and Mongolia. As was the case already with the Baikalhostel initiated by us, Alexej and Julia opened their hostel in a totally normal Russian flat as well. They both have a job during the day, but nevertheless there is always somebody pleased to help you in the hostel.
The access to the hostel is somewhat adventurous, but in exchange it has a good location. During summer it can get crowded very quickly due to the small amount of rooms, so it is highly recommended to call ahead. The hostel doesn't have such an international atmosphere like the Baikalhostel, but it is very cosy and given that it doesn't dispose of many beds, the only bathroom and toilet should be sufficient.
